The Wake County Community Remembrance Coalition (WCCRC) is partnering with the Dudley Flood Center for Educational Equity and Opportunity to support Wake County high school students’ participation in the Equal Justice Initiative’s Racial Justice Essay Contest.  The contest challenges students to research and write an essay about a historical event and its connections to current events and their own lived experiences.  

Dudley Flood Center staff and WCCRC members will mentor participating students as they conduct their research and draft their essays.  The Equal Justice Initiative selects winners from across participating counties and typically awards at least $5,000 in scholarships and prizes. It is our hope that the Racial Justice Essay Contest will be offered annually in our community.
